First Writing Conference Reflection

Writer: kensie parmer kensie parmer

Updated: Apr 15, 2020

Going into the conference I felt pretty good about my essay; I knew the points I wanted to discuss in my paper and for the most part I had managed to include them all within the draft. Once I got to the conference and we started discussing my paper I slowly but got more comfortable with my essay and the ideas I had. Something I learned was that I was so used to high school writing that I thought I couldn’t explicitly write the actual rhetorical strategies names in my paper when discussing them. I thought I had to talk about the strategies without saying their names and then mention their importance. But Ms. A was quick to help me and change my writing so I would include words pathos, exigence, and constraint. I had questions on whether my paper was mostly just plot summary and that’s something I really struggle with, but I was able to understand it more and see that what I had written wasn’t too much. Also, I don’t have to change too much to my essay just a few sentences subtracted here and a few more added here and BOOOMMM feeling much better.
