Simplicity in my Visual Rhetoric...

Updated: Apr 26, 2020

My Blog’s Visual Rhetoric

For my blog design I chose to keep it calm and not too overwhelming. I chose a color scheme of differing shades of pink and tans. I find those colors to be serene and pleasing to the eye. My home page consists of a moving background where a woman is drinking coffee and typing on her computer. I though that was perfect because that’s exactly what I’m doing when constructing each of my entries to this blog account. Then above it is of course, my name and a classic Jodi Picoult quote. My feed is each entry laid out with the most recent post showing first. I decided to keep a simple picture for each of my posts to keep the calm but classic theme. As for my other pages on the account, I made them very user friendly when it comes to accessing them. At the top of the home page there is the menu bar where you can click any of my class categories to go to those pages. First is the about page where it just shows my name again, the class title and Chloe’s name because she is the Teacher. Then comes the blog page- which is certainly my favorite. On the blog page I attached buttons to access each of my blog posts. If you are in the right mood, I added right under the blog buttons a playlist of calming music from Spotify so you can have a light music playing in the background (thanks to Chloe’s playlist making skills). Then comes writing conferences and writing workshop pages where each also have buttons to access the posts. Then comes my essay revision page where the two essay project revisions are posted as well as the reflection of my revisions link immediately underneath them. The last page is of my multimedia campaign blog post. This post doesn’t need to be a part of my eportfolio but Wix blog was the best way for me to create my third piece of my campaign and what better way then to post to my media platform for the class.

A big thing that I wanted to focus on for this eportfolio was that it was very easy to navigate for my audience. I, myself, am not the best when it comes to figuring out technology or navigating through it so I wanted to avoid any possible problems. Each of my pages have the buttons right in front that link to the requested paper. Everything is from the most recent posting down to the ones from further ago. I even added my subscription information so people can go to the twitter account that is associated with this blog account. From the font to the colors to the pictures, I wanted classic and simple, nothing more. Hope all enjoyed 😊.
